WHO WE ARE

What’s our spark?

It’s simple: being part of a community that cares for its people through social justice, inclusion, and equity.

And we believe stories have the power to bring people together, build movements, and challenge oppression. You only have to look at your phone to find stories everywhere.

Being able to share your nonprofit’s stories is more than just “marketing” to us. It’s one way we can show up for our community and support your nonprofit’s mission.

OUR VALUES

We’re guided by an anti-oppressive framework that’s centred around community.

Do good.

We are intentional about the work we do and the communities we are accountable to. We believe doing good means committing to practicing allyship every single day as we work together to dismantle oppression.

Listen first.

We quiet our voices when it’s not our turn to speak. To achieve meaningful change, we must listen to people who are silenced for their experiences at the intersections of race, gender, disability, class, sexual orientation, age, sex, weight, and more.

Stay true.

We stay true to doing our best work for our clients in the charitable and nonprofit sector. With our values as our compass, we are dedicated to helping every organization make an even bigger impact in its community.

Learn always.

Our learning journey is never done. We are firmly anti-know-it-all, preferring to remain curious about what we don’t understand. It is our responsibility to unlearn colonialist and patriarchal practices that perpetuate harm.

Practice care.

Practicing care for ourselves is as important as caring for our communities. Activism is vital work, but it can lead many to burn out. We are strong advocates for protecting mental wellness by respecting our clients’ needs and boundaries as much as our own.

Open doors.

We recognize our privilege and use it to open doors for people who are marginalized and harmed by systems of oppression. There is no other way because we are not free until we are all free.

Meet the mind & heart behind Kindle.

I’m Rachel (she/her), the founder of Kindle Communications Co.

With a background in communications and fundraising, I bring a strategic mind, a creative soul, and a genuine heart to my work. Every organization I’ve worked with, from food banks and community foundations to victim services and mental health, has kindled my passion for social good.

When I’m not working behind the scenes at Kindle, I’m the guardian of a tiny human and two rescue animals who keep me busy in all the best ways. I enjoy growing food, exploring nature, feeding my endless curiosity with a good book, and getting in a round or two of Magic: The Gathering.
